Best Places to Hike in Colorado

Colorado’s mountains stretch the entire state, from north to south. They range from foothill size to over 14,000 feet. With such a wide range of elevation and hundreds of peaks to climb, it is no wonder Colorado boasts some of the best places to hike in our country. In fact, there are so many great places to hike, many people have trouble knowing where to begin. Three of the best places to hike in Colorado are Estes Park (Rocky Mountain National Park), Colorado Springs and the towns surrounding Colorado’s capital city, Denver.

For those who are looking to be completely surrounded by mountains, Estes Park, home to Rocky Mountain National Park, is a great place to begin. Hikers can choose from hundreds of trails, ranging from beginning to climbing one of Colorado’s toughest and tallest mountains, Longs Peak. Hikers can drive to many of the trailheads in Estes Park, allowing for a great gain in elevation and more scenic views.

Colorado Springs has some of the best trails for hikers in all of Colorado and they are in Colorado Springs’ residents’ back doors. Hikers love the nearby trails for their proximity. One of Colorado’s most beautiful mountains, Pike’s Peak, is located in Colorado Springs. Hikers can enjoy the paths surrounding Pikes Peak, or trails that offer spectacular views of the 14,000-foot mountain and the surrounding area.

Lastly, trails near Colorado’s capital, Denver, are some of the best trails to hike in Colorado. Trails found in Golden, Aurora and other nearby cities offer Coloradans the proximity to a larger city without compromising their desire to hike. Hikers can enjoy the well-maintained trails within the dozens of parks supported by Denver.  Hikers can rest assured a good hike is less than an hour away.
